História do Cauim – Toque da Lata
Um dos projetos mais bonitos já realizados pelo Cauim foi o “Toque da Lata”, que busca a integrar social e comunitária de adolescentes da periferia da cidade através da música e do estímulo à criatividade e do exercício da cidadania. O nome “Toque da Lata” originou-se da proposta de construção dos instrumentos musicais serem confeccionados pelos próprios alunos, através do reaproveitamento de material descartado como latas de tinta e tambores industriais. Os instrumentos eram confeccionados e recebiam pinturas com estilo grafite, também feitas por eles.
O Toque da Lata é um grupo de percussão que surgiu em 1996, criado pelos músicos Márcio Coelho e Deva Mile e seus familiares. Em 2001, integrou-se ao Templo da Cidadania e a partir e iniciou uma bem-sucedida parceria com o Cineclube Cauim.
Os meninos e meninas atendidos pelo Toque recebiam aulas teóricas e práticas de música e cidadania. Os ensaios semanais eram feitos aos sábados nas dependências do Templo da Cidadania. Recebiam alimentação e uma pequena bolsa de estudos para cobrir despesas de transporte.
O Toque da Lata apresentou-se em toda a região de Ribeirão e se tornou conhecido, não só por sua música, mas também pela excelência do trabalho cidadão realizado pelo grupo. Hoje o Toque continua vivo, contribuindo para a melhoria de vida de adolescentes através da música, essa arte, que “teima” em ficar viva na Cultura Brasileira.
