Next Friday, November 8th, Marcelo Capela & Fogo Novo will take the stage at the new Cauim for a show with the purest essence of Reggae. The performance starts at 8:30 PM and is part of the Sextas Sonoras project.

The second act in the special Black Consciousness Month program, Marcelo Capela & Fogo Novo, present a work shaped by many years of experience, studies, and research in the genre, taking the audience directly to Jamaican rhythms without neglecting the original Brazilian swing, in a performance full of energy, activism, and awareness.

Marcelo Capela

Originally from Carapicuíba/SP, he formed his first band in 1995, Capela do Reggae, from which his stage name originated. Moving to Ribeirão Preto/SP, he participated in the bands Front Line Reggae Band, Família Pedra Negra, and currently acts as the lead vocalist of the band Fogo Novo. Today, he works disseminating Reggae Music and Sound System Culture through the Reggae na Periferia Project, strengthening the movement in the city of Ribeirão Preto and the surrounding region.

New Fire

Formed in 2014 with the goal of researching and studying Jamaican music, its roots and similarities to Brazilian popular music, the band Fogo Novo works in the style of traditional Jamaican backing bands, performing versions of classics and reggae riddims recorded by pioneering reggae music studios of the 60s and 70s.
