The Brazilian film The Secret Agent, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, has established itself as a historical landmark, receiving four nominations to Oscar 2026. This achievement expands Brazil's presence in the awards, coming right after the historic victory of... I'm Still Here last year.

Best Actor (Wagner MouraMoura makes history as the first Brazilian actor nominated in this category. He plays Marcelo, a university professor who becomes a fugitive during the military dictatorship in Recife in the 1970s.
Best International Film: Brazil is looking to retain the title in this category, which it won for the first time in 2025 with the film I'm Still Here, directed by Walter Salles and starring Fernanda Torres.
Best Casting Direction (CastingThe film is competing in this brand-new category, created by the Academy to debut at the 2026 edition. The selection process was led by Gabriel Domingues.
