The "Cinema and Environment" project brings students from the municipal public school system back to Cauim.
Developed in conjunction with the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism, with support from the Municipal Department of Education and the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto-SP, the project encourages learning about the importance of the environment through the screening of national films related to the topic.
The children studying at the Municipal Elementary Schools (EMEFs) in the city of Ribeirão Preto are participating, with enthusiasm and joy, in the return of students to the Cauim projects. After a long period of inactivity due to the pandemic, the execution of projects in partnership with the city's schools has been resumed by the Cauim Film Club, with the implementation of the "Cinema and Environment" Project, which had been previously planned but postponed by the pandemic.
Born from a Parliamentary Amendment proposed by Federal Deputy Paulo Teixeira, from the PT party of São Paulo, the project is a partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Education and Tourism and foresees the holding of free daily screenings in two periods. Students are brought from the EMEFs (Municipal Elementary Schools) to the Cauim Film Club in comfortable buses and, at the end of the screening, return to their respective schools, also by bus. This transportation is also free, as stipulated by the project and the agreement signed between the Cauim Film Club and the Secretariat of Culture and Tourism. Logistical support for the execution is provided by the Municipal Secretariat of Education, the directors and teachers of the network, and by municipal administration bodies.
Even with the easing of the pandemic and the vaccination efforts underway, all the preventative measures outlined in the latest municipal decrees, such as the mandatory use of masks, the provision of hand sanitizer, and others, are being respected by students, teachers, and support staff.
The "Cinema and Environment" Project is carried out through Agreement No. 884104/2019, signed between the Municipality of Ribeirão Preto, through the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Cauim Film Club.
