CAUIM FILM CLUB presents SOUND FRIDAYS with MISSIONARIES OF THE BLUES

Next Friday, October 18th, the Missionários do Blues will take the stage at the new Cauim for an electrifying show! The performance starts at 8:30 PM and is part of the Sextas Sonoras project.

With 27 years on the road, the band Missionários do Blues is considered one of the most traditional blues power bands in the state of São Paulo and stands out for the joy and high spirits in its performances. Their repertoire includes original songs as well as the band's versions of classics from blues, soul, rock, and rhythm and blues.

The band Missionários do Blues emerged unpretentiously in September 1997, when a group of students from USP (University of São Paulo) got together for a performance in the "Musicians in Group" project, held at the USP Chapel in Ribeirão Preto. Shortly afterwards, the band turned professional and began performing in nightclubs in Ribeirão Preto and the surrounding region.

Throughout their 27 years on the road, Missionários do Blues have performed in various cities in the interior of São Paulo state, bringing the blues to diverse audiences, whether in nightclubs, theaters, university events, or festivals of the genre. In 2011, thanks to the support of ProAC (Cultural Action Program), they released the CD "Missionários do Blues – vol. 01," with songs composed by members of the group. In August 2023, also with the support of ProAC, the band gave a historic concert to celebrate their 25th anniversary, drawing an audience of over two thousand people to the USP Ribeirão campus, the place where it all began!

The event starts at 7 PM with DJ Hamilton's playlist warming up the crowd with the best of Blues, Jazz, and their variations. The venue features a bar service in the entrance hall and a food truck in the outdoor area, offering a varied menu.

Tickets cost only 20 reais, include a draft beer, and can be purchased at the Cauim box office on the day of the show.

The new home of Cauim (Guarani Aquifer Memorial) is located at Rua Olavo Bilac, 135, in Vila Seixas.
