The partnership between Cineclube Cauim and SESC Ribeir\u00e3o Preto, which began in 2020 with the screening of the film "Bacurau," now brings the South Korean production that won 4 Oscars, including Best Picture.<\/em>. The event will take place on February 20th, in a single session, with free admission.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, Cineclube Cauim and SESC join forces to offer the entire population of Ribeir\u00e3o Preto a free screening of an internationally acclaimed, recently produced film. This is the case with "Parasite," a South Korean film directed by the award-winning director Bong Joon-ho (Okja - 2017<\/em>, Snowpiercer \u2013 2017, Memories of Murder \u2013 2003)<\/em>, which was the big winner at the 2020 Oscars, the most prestigious film awards in the world, taking home no less than four statuettes: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. It was the first foreign-language (non-English) film to receive the top prize, Best Picture, in Oscar history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c"Parasite" is a reflection on two completely different families. On one side is the family of Ki-Taek, an ambitious young man who lives in miserable conditions, surviving on odd jobs and petty scams. On the other side are the Parks, members of the new generation that emerged with the technological and economic development of South Korea, who live in a mansion, surrounded by all the comforts that technology can offer in modern times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stroke of luck offers the clever Ki-Taek the opportunity to get close to the Park family, and gradually, his entire family takes on roles in the Park mansion, increasingly draining their money and influence over the other family's affairs. This analogy led to the choice of the film's title: like a parasite in nature, Ki-Taek and his family gradually take over the lives of the wealthy, yet naive, Parks. The plot's ending is surprising and violent, demonstrating that interaction between social classes will always generate conflict, often bloody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
