French Film Festival of Brazil 2025

Organized by the production company Bonfilm and with the support of the French Embassy in Brazil, the Alliance Française, and Unifrance [founded in 1949, it is an organization that aims to promote French films outside of France. Headquartered in Paris, it has offices in several countries. In Brazil, for more than two decades (1959-1981), its delegate was...] Monsieur Amy Bakaloff Courvoisier (1907-1984)], the Varilux Festival It is one of the biggest French film festivals in the world.
É
The only film festival held simultaneously in cinemas in cities of all sizes, from North to South of our country. And it has been happening every year for fifteen years. In 2025, it will happen again. However, with a new name: French Film Festival in Brazil.
“We chose a name that reflects one of our main differentiators: the national scope of the event. With this, we open ourselves up to new partners, seeking to guarantee the festival's growth.”, "declared Emmanuelle & Christian Boudier, directors of Bonfilm.".
O
The festival may have changed its name, but its purpose remains the same: to bring to the Brazilian public the best and most recent films from France, the country where cinema was born.
R
Ribeirão Preto, a thriving and important city, could not miss out on hosting this festival. Its screenings will take place at Cauim, the film club that promotes culture and citizenship in Ribeirão Preto.
A
In total, twenty-one films will be shown, most of them released in 2025. As in previous years, there will be a screening of a classic film. And the classic film chosen was... The Goat, a crime comedy released in 1981 and starring Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu.
T
All the films are small masterpieces.
C
Each of the films has a certain connection with the others. Some focus on the world of art. Others criticize bourgeois society. Others criticize society in general. And there are those that criticize the government and its agents.
S
These are, in short, films that deserve to be seen and, if possible, seen again.
A
Next, the festival schedule.
